LetterWriter is a Hypercard stack that helps you organize your correspondence. It will:
• Keep records of all the letters you’ve received and sent.
• Store the text of all your letters in a single file, instead of dozens of word processor files.
• Automatically format a letter, place it in the clipboard, then transfer to your word processor, where you can fine-tune and print the letter.
• Let you create personal and business letter styles and customize the closing of each.
• Let you specify the word processor you use and a desk accessory to be opened whenever you run LetterWriter.
I created LetterWriter because I’m notoriously delinquent about returning letters from friends. Using this stack has made writing letters fun enough that I actually do it now! Of course, I’m sure you can find other reasons to use this stack — perhaps you need to keep records of correspondence with clients, or want to track mailings to customers.
Another reason I wrote LetterWriter was to explore the capabilities of Hypercard. It think this stack is a nice example of Hypercard programming and graphics, and I hope you’ll be able to get some tips from it.
LetterWriter is Shareware. Try it for 30 days, and if you like it, send me $15 at the address below for the complete version; otherwise, erase LetterWriter from your disks. Please feel free to pass this stack on to others; however, you may not modify it in any way except for personal use.
When you send me your Shareware fee, I’ll send you an unprotected, fully customizable version with extra features including:
• Text file export.
• Complete control of the letter text, including headings and space between paragraphs.
• No obnoxious Shareware messages or protection.
Send Shareware fees and any comments to:
